5I suffer from TMJ syndrome and sinusitis. I have recurring headaches. I have taken this drug on/off for 12 years. I am allergic to a lot of meds, so it’s been well-suited for me. I do know it is habit forming, as if I have to take it for several days, I do have some withdrawl symptoms.

5I have been taking Fioricet as needed for about 15 years. I love it. If Fioricet doesn’t help, nothing does. I do not find it to be habit forming at all. I do find that if i take it for too many days in a row it is not as effective and then I suffer from rebound headaches.

4.3I used Fioricet for years to not only treat my headaches, but to help with tense aches and pains in my shoulders. It was the only thing that worked and allowed me to continue with my daily routine. I did notice that after taking it for such a long time I experienced some of the withdrawls. I would reccomend taking it but follow how your doctor says to take your dosages even if you think you are starting to have a “headache” it might just be a rebound reaction.

4.7I’ve learned to ‘live’ with headaches; often lasting up to four days or more. I was prescribed Fioricet about two years ago and I find it to be a relief not to have to ‘live’ with a headache for days anymore. I’m careful about using it and often as a last resort after trying Advil and the like. Therefore I don’t find it habit forming for me. It is an absolute relief drug.

5I’ve had headaches since early childood and I swear I tried everything; OTC medicines, chiropractic, acupuncture, yoga, different diets, physical therapy, ultrasound. Finally after seeing a million doctors, including two neurologists and a pain specialist, I moved to a new state and started seeing a Physician’s Assistant, who prescribed me Fioricet. What a diffrence in my life. My headaches go away within an hour or so now, instead of just “waiting it out” for 3 to 6 days. I would tell anyone with TMJ and/or tension headaches to try this. It works best if you take it as soon as you feel a headache coming on. I too tried to use it as a last resort, but I have learned that it’s not worth the suffering.

4.7I GET PROBABLY 4 OR 5 MIGRAINES A MONTH. I COULDN’T BEAR TO BE WITHOUT MY FIORICET. IT’S THE ONLY MEDICINE THAT SEEMS TO WORK FOR ME. IF I FEEL A HEADACHE STARTING, I TAKE 2 TABS AND WITHIN 20-30 MINS, THE HEADACHE IS GONE. IN ADDITION TO BEING A MOTHER OF 4 GIRLS, I HAVE RUN MY FAMILY DAY CARE FOR 17 YEARS AND I JUST WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO FUNCTION WITHOUT MY FIORICET. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL OTHER MEDICINESS BEFORE FIORICET, AND NOTHING SEEMED TO HELP SO I AM VERY THANKFUL FOR FIORICET. IT WORKS GREAT FOR ME. I’VE TRIED TO AVOID THINGS THAT SET OFF MY HEADACHES, LIKE NOT EATING BEFORE 2 PM, OR MY PILLOWS NOT BEING RIGHT WHEN SLEEPING, BRIGHTNESS, SOUNDS, SMELLS AND STRESS. BUT SOME CAN’T BE AVOIDED. THANK YOU.

5This is a wonderful drug. It takes the pain away within a few minutes and even if the migraine doesn’t go away altogether, the pain isn’t as bad as it would be or could be, without some form of medication. Believe me I’ve tried them all. I am now on Topamax 50mg twice a day, Fioricet and Midrin.

5I was not one prone to headaches until recently. They started at the base of my neck and continued upward until I didn’t want to move a muscle. Oddly enough, these were prescribed by my dentist due to an upcoming root canal I was getting ready for. I took one the next time I had a headache and within 30 minutes it was completely gone. I was amazed.

5I have been a suffering from migraine headaches for 20 years. I’ve tried EVERYTHING. My experience has shown if you take 2 tablets of Fioricet at the onset of one, you will do yourself a huge favor. It works. It may not eliminate your migraine but it will make it tolerable and less severe. Like others above, you have to be careful about how much you do take. I’ve found if I had a bad headache and have taken several pills, I have to then ween myself off of it by taking one pill every 4 hours over the next day or so to prevent a rebound headache. If you take many of these to relieve a headache, I recommend taking a few when your headache is gone to prevent a rebound. I make sure I carry my Fioricet with me at all times.

5This is the only medicine I’ve ever found to actually work on my tension headaches. I have used it about 2 – 3 times a year for a few to several days in a row to knock out my headaches. This is my ‘last resort’ medication and for great reason – it works. As someone else posted, if this doesn’t work, nothing is going to work. I’m so thankful for this medication.

5I had Doctor give me Fioricet and told me to come back in 3 weeks to see if it worked for me, and it was the one thing that actually worked. So I went back in 3 weeks and he told me it was not part of a healthy diet and would not give me anymore. So really what was the point of the false hope. I continue to suffer at least 2 days a week from massive headaches. My stomach is gonna fall apart from all the over the counter medicines I take way too much of, for very little relief.

5Fioricet works within 15-20 minutes and you feel better than you would normally …. happy, awake, no headache, nothing can really irritate you and literally puts a smile on your face. Don’t eat them daily because they will start causing headaches and you will become tolerant and then they won’t work when you need them to.

5I was originally given Fioricet after a spinal tap caused spinal headaches. I have a history of tension type headaches with pain starting at the base of the skull and then radiates upward. 1I tried this medicine today with no headache relief. I did get drowsy and all of the muscles in my body were completely relaxed, however I still had the migraine. Per my Neurologist recommendation, I waited 2 hours before taking Indocin. Still no luck. The only medicine that I have found to stop a migraine is Treximet, however that has to be taken at the FIRST sign of the migraine. Anything later and it is too late. I am glad Fioricet works well for some people, but all it does for me is causes drowsiness and muscle relaxation. I wish I could get migraine relief from it.

It worked great for my tension headaches, and I did not notice any side effects from them. 5Condition: Tension Headache Reviewer: drday1@aol.com, 65-74 Male on Treatment for less than 1 month (Patient):
I am shocked after using fioricet. I was living on at least 8 excedrin tablets per day for head and neck pain from arthritis. I have no idea if my bad headaches were arthritis related or not but my Dr gave me fioricet this week and I began to take it yesterday while having a really bad headache for the past evening and well into the day. I had the prescription for a few days and was not in a hurry to fill it then this headache that was severe prompted me to get in my car and go get it refilled. I have tried so many other pain medications I really had no illusions about this one until I took it and within about 6 hours the headache was gone and I was smiling again. The use of excedrin was causing me to bleed and get ulcers but it was the ONLY thing that worked on my neck and back pain from arthritis until now. I don’t quite know what to say or if it will continue to help but at this point I am ready to shout hooray and keep going with it. I always had to take excedrin to make days bearable so I have no idea if I will have to take as many fioricet. I hope not since I do not like being on strong drugs. I tend to get sleepy and tired on any I have taken in the past and to be honest pain is easier to live with that that awful groggy feeling. As for now I am in shock at how this has worked so quickly. My second day and no bad headache from the stiff neck. Over the years as a young working person I strained my body with physical abuse on the job and now in my late 60′s I am paying the price. I am always leery of good reviews but you know what? This is working so far so I wanted to share with anyone who has severe pain.

As soon as I feel it coming on, I take one Fioricet with Codiene and within 15 minutes my headaches are almost gone. I have been concerned about getting rebound headaches so I only take when needed. When I was pregnant with my first and 2nd babies, I was given Fioricert, (w/out the caffeine on preg) and with the caffeine and codeine another…it helped a lot. In my 3re preg.I didn’t have headaches. But one day, I had a headache that would not end. It lasted for 9 days with no relief…anyways eventually prescribed Fioricet and have been taking it 2 to 3 times a day for the past several years. I have Fibromyalgia, just diagnosed last summer, which finally explaines PROBABLY the constant headaches…so it’s helped me function and is such a relief. The only thing I am wondering is if I’m ever going to be able to get off of it after 12 years of use…However, I’m not willing to suffer headaches and I”m not willing to suffer withdrawls if suddenly taken off this med..As for the tolerance…well, I know with most people, they find it doesn’t work well after a while. I have not noticed any problems with it at all…but there are times when my headaches are way more worse than others. In which case, I must use another type of pain reliever w/it…i.e. Tramidol

I was prescribed this medication in 1993 and have been on it off/on for years; although the best 6 or 7 years, I would venture to say I became very addicted. Initially, the medicaion worked great, but I wasn’t abusing them! Once you start taking more than the recommended dosage, you WILL become hooked. One of the noted side effects is “intoxicated feeling.” I did experience this almost within a few minutes of swallowing two pills. But the after effects are awful. Sure, I felt great, talkative, energetic, etc. for about 15/20 minutes but it’s SO not worth it because when I would come down from it, I would be incredibly groggy, would just want to sleep, had horrific rebound headaches, became nausesous, and lost any and all ambition to do or accomplish anything. My concentration was also incredibly slowed down when on this drug. If I have a regular tension headache, I find taking a couple of over the counter Ibuprofen or Excedrin is better. Take it from me – keep taking this stuff and you WILL become hooked!

Fioricet is a wonderful drug for headaches of all sorts, I do not understand why some ER’S and Physicians are reluctant to prescribe it, My opinion is to promote new drugs eg. Treximet which is formulated with Imitrex and Naprosyn BEWARE of these new drugs they more then likely are being tested on us! Stick with Fioricet, my fellow migraine/ tension headache sufferers.

I have been on this medication for a year now. It helps with the tention headaches but i have to go in and get a shot for my mygrains. If i don’t have it my head and shoulders hurt real bad. My doctor won’t proscribe it the er doctor does because he knows how a tention headache is. I just wish i could go with out and get better i am tired of taking pills. But i would say this is the only thing that helps

Reviewer: 65-74 Male on Treatment for 10 years or more (Patient):
I started taking Fiorinal in 1991 for mixed muscle tension/migraine headaches that started after an anesthesia headache that took a blood patch to stop. I spent about 2 years experimenting with various migraine/depression meds and had adverse reactions to them all. This ended my career. After about 3 years, I added Imitrex which handled the migraine component better than Fiorinal alone. Then, I switched to Fioicet to reduce aspirin stomach upset. Have about 1 migraine and 10-15 muscle tension headaches per month. Fioricet always works for me without any adverse reactions. Many doctors are reluctant prescribe fioricet because of addiction fears or rebound headache possibilities. If it works for you, and your doctor won’t prescribe it, find a doctor that also works for you. Best taken on an empty stomach with a warm caffeine free liquid. Before bed, take it wth warm milk.

For years I suffered from severe headaches. My doctor gave me a label “Mixed Headache Syndrome” which basically means I have different types of headaches…tension, migraine, menstrual. Before getting the correct combination of meds, I would pace the floor for hours and then hang over the toilet throwing up. The combination that really works for me is … Fioricet (especially for the tension headaches that go up the back of the neck), fioricet with codeine if it increases, relpax for the migraines, especially the ones with the aura/the bright flashing lights in front of my eyes. If all these don’t kick in, I take tranxene to knock me out. It’s better than showing up at the Emergency Room or wishing you were dead. I have 8 sisters and we all carry Fioricet for our headaches.

This medication worked pretty well to relieve my tension headaches. *However,* my previous doctor prescribed this along with Soma (even writing them on the same prescription slip) and never told me not to take them together. It was a disastrous and possibly life-threatening experiencing experience. So now I don’t even keep the same medications in the same drawer! It is an effective medication, and I never suffered any kind of difficulty stopping it, but definitely do not mix it with either Soma or alcohol (as it contains acetaminophen as well).

This medicine usually works pretty well for getting rid of my headaches. The downfall is that is makes me very sleepy and if I take it at night, I have trouble getting up the next morning and I stay pretty groggy for most of the next day. If I take it during the day, I usually end up falling asleep about 2 to 3 hrs after taking it.

I think this med is pretty good, i really enjoy the relaxing feeling, and that is the part that could become addictive, i never though i would have to rely on pills to live my life, i feel that i have grown a dependency on this med, i also have taken oxycodone, that worked better than anything but i cant get prescribed to that, but i am satisfied with this drug the only problem is i end up having to take more that prescribed, just like i did with my dolgic plus. If anyone else finds this med addictive, or dependant, please reply to me, oerall though great med
